Genie Now Harnessing the Power of the Sun

Genie Insights has announced another exclusive partnership, this time with solar panel manufacturer, MiPV.
The Northern Ireland based fleet technology company can now provide vehicle applied solar panels to fleet operators on the island of Ireland and, under the partnership agreement, also has distribution rights for the food industry in GB.
The new partnership has been spearheaded by Billy Dougan, who recently joined the Genie Insights team, after retiring from a 40 year career in the transport and logistics industry, most recently spending 25 years with a well known trailer manufacturer.
Solar panels are a long-proven method of harnessing power from the sun, but a more recent development of this concept is using solar energy to power vehicle ancillary equipment. MiPV, which has a manufacturing facility in South Wales, is the UK’s most exciting solar solutions manufacturer. Together Genie Insights and MiPV can provide new ways for fleet operators to reduce costs and environmental impact.

Modern commercial and passenger carrying vehicles are running more and more auxiliary services with light bars, telemetry, cameras, various in-cab systems and tail lifts, but vehicle and auxiliary batteries are not matched to these power demands. Vehicle engines are having to idle to provide supplementary power and many operators are experiencing problems with flat batteries and shortened battery lifespans.
MiPV’s solution provides sustainable power management which will prolong battery life while reducing fuel consumption and emissions. The very latest in CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium Selenide) technology brings a number of benefits over traditional glass-based panels. As well as being lightweight and flexible, these panels are extremely powerful and highly efficient, even generating energy in shadowed and shaded environments.
Genie Insights can supply custom solar panel solutions for any type of vehicle, from trucks, trailers and buses, to vans, fleet cars and leisure vehicles (e.g. caravans and motorhomes).
