We are Recruiting – Sales Manager (Solar Division)
We are recruiting a Sales Manager for our Solar division.
The Role
As our Sales Manager, you will lead the commercial growth of Genie Insights’ transport solar division, taking full ownership of the sales strategy, pipeline and performance.
This is a pivotal role, where your contributions will help shape our future and make a meaningful impact on our growing, ambitious business. Your focus will primarily be on winning new business, managing existing customers and establishing strategic partnerships.
If you’re motivated by results, driven by purpose, and thrive in a business that values doing the right thing and following through on commitments, this could be the ideal next step in your career.
While you won’t have a team to manage initially, you will be expected to take ownership of the department – leading by example, setting the standards and preparing the groundwork for future growth.
This is a role for someone who thrives on autonomy, accountability and results.
The Company
Genie Insights is a fleet technology business with two main focuses – we are an exclusive partner for a global fleet/asset management system and we supply solar solutions for commercial vehicles.
Founded in 2016, Genie Insights has grown into a well-established, profitable business with a lean, expert team and a strong track record of delivery. We already work with a mix of private and public sector organisations, including global OEMs, PLCs, and large national fleets. Despite our modest size, our reach and reputation are significant – and growing. We’re now looking for someone to build on our strong foundations and growing momentum to help take our sales performance and structure to the next level.
At Genie Insights, we are guided by four core values: Integrity, Fairness, Collaboration, and Dependability. These guiding principles define how we operate as a team and how we serve our customers. We believe in doing the right thing, treating everyone with fairness and respect, working together to find the best solutions, and delivering on our promises.
We also pride ourselves on achieving a lot with our close-knit, highly capable team because we all muck in when it’s needed. We work hard, support one another, and deliver results without an ‘always-on’ culture. You’ll find real purpose, balance and a team that has your back.
Experience in the solar/renewable industry is not required as full support and guidance/training will be given to quickly bring the successful candidate up to speed on the product, benefits, target markets and sales techniques.
What You’ll Be Doing
The overall objective for this role is to build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships. The business is a fast-paced environment which requires ownership, accountability and multi-tasking, but this should not be achieved at the expense of attention to detail.
Whilst we are primarily looking for someone with strong business development experience, we also hope to find a willingness and ability to roll up the sleeves and get stuck in with the wider team.
Expect a split of roughly 70% new business / 30% key account development.
As the Sales Manager for our solar division, you must be able to demonstrate experience and capability in the following areas:
Sales Strategy & Business Development
- Lead the creation and execution of a sales growth plan, aligned with commercial targets and ISO 9001 processes.
- Drive new business acquisition through proactive prospecting and networking, supporting the development of new customers and markets.
- Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline, taking full accountability for managing leads from identification through to close.
- Carry out market research and lead generation in conjunction with the wider business development/marketing function.
Customer Engagement
- Engage regularly with customers and prospects face-to-face, on the phone and using video conferencing to understand their challenges and propose tailored solutions (some travel will be required, primarily through UK and island of Ireland, but occasionally within Europe also).
- Deliver professional sales presentations and proposals, ensuring all communications reflect our commitment to transparency and ethical partnership.
- Promote the company’s brand and reputation at trade shows and networking events.
- Carry out product demonstrations and manage customer/prospect evaluations/trials.
Key Account Management
- Arrange and carry out business reviews of all existing customer accounts, preparing account plans and monitoring these regularly with the objective of nurturing the relationships and proposing solutions that meet their needs.
- Be the first point of contact for key accounts for any issues pre- or post-sale and taking responsibility for seeing the issues through to resolution in conjunction with other internal functions.
Sales Operations & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and pipeline stages using CRM.
- Monitor and report against key sales KPIs (e.g. pipeline health, conversion rates, revenue).
- Ensure all processes comply with internal procedures and ISO 9001 quality standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Process sales orders and ensure the correct products and services are delivered to customers in a timely manner by liaising with other internal functions.
- Coordinate closely with internal teams to ensure on-time and right-first-time delivery of customer orders.
- Provide customer feedback to the wider team and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Take ownership of account setup, customer onboarding, and handover processes, following through on every commitment.
- Help shape the future of the solar division, including input into pricing, new products and service improvements.
- Take ownership of all tasks and building strong working relationships with internal colleagues and our supplier partners.
Who We’re Looking For
You’ll be a driven, commercially-minded professional who takes pride in closing deals the right way – with integrity, fairness, and collaboration at the core.
You will demonstrate:
- A strong track record of B2B sales success, ideally in a consultative or technical sales environment.
- Proven ability to plan and manage a sales pipeline, hitting or exceeding targets.
- Prior people management experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels.
- A solution-oriented mindset and a commitment to responsible, customer-focused selling.
- Self-motivation and dependability – you own your role and can be counted on to follow through.
- A willingness to contribute across the business and collaborate actively with others.
Desirable criteria includes:
- Experience in the transport, automotive or manufacturing industries.
- Familiarity with public sector tendering.
- Exposure to working within a quality management framework (e.g. ISO 9001).
What We Offer
We offer a rewarding role within a commercially strong and fast-growing business.
- Salary £45,000 plus bonus scheme with OTE £60,000
- Contributory pension scheme
- Flexible working arrangements considered
- Free on-site parking
